Maxel makes its 10th anniversary of reel manufacture in 2013 with the introduction of its Transformer series of jigging reels , a range that quickly became a jewel in the company’s crown.
Now the popular series has been upgraded with a lighter 2018 version that delivers an improved level of performance .The advantage go beyond design tweaks and make a discernible difference to the reel’s handling and performance
The New Transformer Modifications:
- The side plate is now machined in an arc shape to provide more comfortable grip
- The modified EVA oval knobs are lighter weight and more user-friendly
- The newly-designed handle shaft has an additional bearing to provide more and smoother cranking power . The shaft coating has also been upgraded from brass to aluminum.

What an amazing reel and buying experience
Diogo introduced to Maxel reels, I seriously don't know why this brand is not as famous as other ones. The reel is super light yet sturdy, anti-reverse is phenomenal, and the drag is unbelievable, 24 lb on strike and over 48 lb on full...that is massive!!! It has dual carbon drag which translates to super smooth feeling when the fish takes off. Perfect for bottom fishing but I'll be using it mainly for vertical jigging This is my second Maxel, first one was the Rage, little winch with all the finesse needed for my slow pitch jigging. If that was not enough, Diogo is a wealth of knowledge, honest, and patient. He spends as much time as needed so you fully understand different techniques and where to apply them. The best part is that you are supporting a local family owned business. He never pushes you to buy something and will either special order it for you if it is not in stock or will find you different options. I could not ask for better buying experience!
